Do you want to go back in time? Then take a discovery tour to the geological organ pipes, a leftover from the Ice Age in Oberschroffen by Unterneukirchen. The natural pipes are up to 10 meters long.
Or how about a tour to the Nature and Bird Reserve "Vogelfreistätte Salzachmündung" in Haiming? Grey herons, cormorants and other migratory and water birds can be found in the air and water here.
Hiking Trails in Upper Bavaria
- Planetenweg, the Planet Trail in Burgkirchen (approx. 7 km away). The path depicts our solar system. Starting point is the sun at the edge of an incline on the Upper Terrace.
- History Trail in Burgkirchen – from the Stone Age to today: Take a four-hour roundtrip hike to archaeological sites.
- Georg-Brenner hiking trail: 10 km long roundtrip hiking trail that allows for beautiful views of the world-famous pilgrimage site. Starting and end point is the Tourist Information in Altötting. (approx. 9 km away).
- Landscape conservation area Gries by Altötting: Relaxed in this 20 local recreation area.
- Naturlehrpfad Wöhrsee, the Nature Trail by Burghausen (approx. 18 km away): Get in touch with nature in a unique way on this special 1-hour trail and learn e.g. how you would compare to a fox and a rabbit in long jump.
- Nature and Bird Reserve „Vogelfreistätte Salzachmündung” by Haiming (approx. 30 km away).

If you would rather discover the area while seated comfortably on your bike, then feel free! The Hotel Traumschmiede is a bicycle friendly hotel and even has a few e-bikes for hire. More can be rented in Altötting.

Biking Paths in the Region
- Inn bike path: 530 km from Switzerland to Passau. You don't have to bike the whole path to enjoy amazing impressions. On the bike path that goes through the Inn-Salzach region you bike through a slightly hilly landscape to the monastery in Gars, Mühldorf and Altötting.
- Benedikt trail: 248 km through the pre-Alpine landscape – visit the place where Joseph Ratzinger, who became Pope Benedict XVI, grew up.
- Tauern bike trail: the tour starts in the Salzburg Land region and takes you from Salzburg to Brunau in the Inn-Salzach region. The entire route is 270 km long.
- Sieben-Kirchen-Radweg, the 7 churches bike trail: 7 art-historically interesting churches, almost no inclines and a path on side streets make this 17 km-long tour from Neuötting to Marktl attractive for leisurely bikers.
- Salzach-Alz-Inn roundtrip: This 27 km easy roundtrip starts in Badhöring close to Burghausen and provides impressions of 2 beautiful river landscapes.
